New Imperialism and the Western Expansion
What I hope to accomplish through this blog is to learn more about the time period and how it connects to certain things in America, and also across time.
EQ: HOW WAS MASSIVE MIGRATION AN INTEGRAL PART OF WESTERN EXPANSION?
Massive migration was an integral part of Western Expansion because Western nations sent forth millions of emigrants to scarcely populated areas of European settlement in North and South America, Australia, and Russia because of pressures at home and the economic opportunities there. As industrialization spread to other countries and provided more jobs "at home" migration rates from certain countries (like Germany) decreased. Migration was popular until the war in 1914, and Migration from Asia was sparse because of the barriers put up to keep Asian immigrants out of Europe.
